Been a Long Time

Wow, it's been a long time since my last blog post. I'm really bad at this. I guess I'll just start typing and see what we get. I think I've discovered why I've been writing fiction - LDS chicklit books. I think it's because I don't normally read that genre but I know and understand it really well. Plus I am able to distance myself from it more because I didn't create the world it's set in and the characters just speak to me. I'm working on The Stripper and the Saint again (my 2011 Camp Nanowrimo project). I'm hoping to enter it into this competition The Original Writing Competition put on by the Utah Division of Arts & Museums. Other than that I just finished my junior year of college at the beginning of this month and I have only have one more year to go so YAY!! for that. This summer promises to be lots of fun but again full of family camping trips or vacations. If I can manage to stay busy all summer with editing and not drive myself crazy being cooped up at home alone it'll be a miracle. I do have a lot of editing to do if I decide to submit my manuscript to Cedar Fort Publishing & Media because they want a book that is about 300 double-spaced pages long or about 80,000 words, whichever criteria it meets. The Stripper and the Saint is about 98,000ish words or 337 double-spaced pages. However, Covenant Communications Inc. will accept manuscripts of 105,000 words or less or around 350 DS pages. They however do not accept simultaneous submissions, like Cedar Fort does. Which for those of you who don't know, that means they prefer it if the author does not send the manuscript out to anyone else while they are considering it. If they reject it, it becomes a huge waste of time for the author to have to wait for them to decide. I think I've decided to send it into them first though since that will require less editing on my part at the moment. Especially since I don't know what else I would cut from TSatS. I've already cut so much it would be difficult to cut anything else. However if they reject it I will edit it once more and then send it into Cedar Fort and see what they have to say.

Hurray for a longer blog post that was actually about writing. We'll see how long I can keep this up.
